I see these reeds on a local winter walk to the village of Water Newton. When the sun comes out, as here, they seem to glow in the light, and I find this an appealing contrast with the frosty grass and otherwise rather dull winter colours. I used some texture on the canvas, to highlight the shape of the reeds, and to bring them into the foreground.
