Although there is a landscape of hills and water in this painting, the real focal point is the huge, threatening cloud. I was driving over the Nevis Pass in New Zealand with my husband when we saw it, and I quickly took some photos of the dramatic view. The rich colours on the foreground hills are also gorgeous, and provide an important balance for the dominant sky.
