I enjoyed painting Milford Reflections I and was pleased by the result, so decided to do a short series of these close-up water paintings. Although there is no other context, the shapes on the surface tell us that this is water, and the darkest blues show how deep it is. In fact, this is a very deep fjord, and the blackness of the water gives the surface reflections an almost oily look, although Milford Sound is most definitely not polluted!
